Mobile library services to fit people’s lives

25 September 2017

What role can volunteers play in helping to make library services a better fit for people’s lives in the more remote parts of the county? Essex County Council wants your ideas for a review of mobile libraries.

They know how much people value mobile libraries. But their use has halved in the last seven years so they are looking again at how to provide these services. A seven week consultation is now underway on proposals for mobile libraries and other ideas to help volunteers set up community libraries or expand the home library service to deliver books directly to people’s homes, helping to reduce social isolation.

Essex County Council want you to get involved, have your say on their ideas and share your own. Contribute your views and help shape the future direction of the service and for a direct link to the consultation please see
