Saffron Walden Town Library Society is a registered charity (see below). Its object is to advance the education of the public within Saffron Walden and the surrounding area
by providing support and assistance to the Saffron Walden Town Library, an independent historic library dating from the 1830s (now under the trusteeship of Essex County Council) through activities and projects as it sees fit.
The Society assists with the Library collection and management of the Reading Room. It arranges an annual programme of talks, workshops and other events and an annual summer trip.
Membership of the Society costs a minimum of £7 per annum.
