Work Parties Volunteers - Weeleyhall Wood

Would you like to help maintain the ancient woodlands at Weeleyhall Wood?

Situated near Weeley on the Tendring peninsula these woods come alive in springtime with a carpet of wildflowers. Throughout the woodland different patches of trees can be found, ranging from Oak, Sweet Chesnut coppice, to Scots and Corsical pine plantation.

Work parties will take place on the first Tuesday of each month from 09:00 to 13:00

The work parties will cover general woodland maintenance ie scrub clearance, habitat generation, pathway maintenance and help with coppicing. Using hand tools only.

Work will vary from light to heavy so volunteers work to within their own abilities.

You will need to dress for the weather. The wood can be very muddy! There will be some bramble clearance so expect some damage to clothing.

A lot of walking involved it's a big wood so please wear robust footwear.

Bring your own refreshments

Some of the tasks are demanding but there is always work to suit all skills and abilities, and training with tools if you need it. If you are not sure whether it will suit you, come along for an hour or so to find out.

A good level of fitness is required to be able to work on uneven ground and use hand tools safely.
