Any Essex resident can join the WasteBusters, as full training is provided for free. This equips the individual with the knowledge and confidence about the three waste minimization messages of Essex County Council;
* Love Food Hate Waste Knowledge around dates, storage, portion sizes, leftovers and planning.
* Home Composting Getting started and trouble shooting
* Reuse Where and what to donate and up-cycling.
Once trained individuals are then equipped to sign up to an event or organise their own depending on what they wish to obtain from the scheme. Current events include markets, fairs, fetes, information days and talks to community groups. We attend these events with the aim of changing the behaviours of the public and saving them money.
Aside from attending events there are regular socials, these provide an opportunity for all WasteBusters to meet in an informal setting, share their knowledge and skills. In the past we have had ready steady cook, craft and scavenger style activities.
