Maldon & District CVS have recently expanded our provision of Walks for Wellbeing across the district and are looking for keen individuals to support with leading these walks.
There are many benefits to walking including both physical and mental health benefits. For example, regular walking can:
- Improve your muscular strength, from your leg muscles to your heart muscle
- Help to control your weight (with the help of a healthy diet)
- Reduces the cholesterol in the body
- Release hormones like adrenaline, boosting the mood
- Activate endorphins in the body, which helps to create a sense of wellbeing
This role will be both a supportive and encouraging role, as we want to ensure everyone feels happy and confident to take part, whatever their walking abilities or experiences.
Current walks needing support include:
Burnham-on-Crouch - Every Wednesday from 10:30am
Heybridge - Every Tuesday from 10:30am
All volunteers will be supported and offered training, but you would also be expected to manage the walks independently, once you feel confident to do so.
We are also looking to expand our walks across the District, so if there is anywhere local you are keen on running a walk we are keen to hear from you.
walks are very gentle and range between 1 and 2 miles. All ages and animals are welcome.
Skills
You will need to have a moderate general fitness level as well as being kind and friendly.
Being a good communicator and listener is ideal and you will need to treat everyone with respect and be non-judgemental at all times
You will be good at time keeping and have good organisational skills.
