Walking Buddies

We are looking for individuals to join our rapidly growing Volunteering team here at UCAN.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved within your local community and give a little something back and support people who are struggling. Lack of activity can have a big impact upon people’s welfare both their physical and mental health. So getting out walking can have a very positive effect, especially when someone else is with you to motivate and support you.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for friendly faces and people who enjoy walking and talking to come and volunteer alongside our team on a new project called ‘Volunteer Walking Buddies’ to help individuals that are battling with loss of confidence and anxiety to get back outside. Loneliness and isolation are a big issue for many people, as well as inactivity. Full training and appropriate equipment will be provided.

Skills

• A friendly attitude and enjoy meeting new people

• Are motivational and happy to engage on a one to one basis with other members of your community

• Able to motivate people and walk with an individual

• Able to be empathetic, advise and support those you are supporting
