Would you like help our winter work parties at Cranham Marsh and learn coppicing, a traditional method of woodland management?
During December and January the work parties at Cranham Marsh will be coppicing the woodland.
The winter work parties meet on the third Wednesday and last Sunday of the month to carry out practical woodland management of the reserve.
The work parties will be involved with clearing paths, pushing back invading scrub, and cutting ditch banks where they have become overgrown. There will be some hedge maintenance and during December and January Middle wood will be coppiced to stimulate growth.
Some of the tasks are demanding but there is always work to suit all skills and abilities, and training with tools if you need it. If you are not sure whether it will suit you, come along for an hour or so to find out.
