Volunteer mentor

Mentors will undergo a training session, this will consist of the coaching skills that the Mentors will need.  They will also be required to bring existing DBS checks or bring their documentation to copy and apply for a DBS check.  This training will be carried out 1 month before the event and the mentor will need to be in receipt of a valid DBS check before any mentoring can take place.

The mentors will be expected to make a commitment to meet with the Mentee on a weekly basis from 6 weeks to 6 months and will have direct contact with the TheraSpace staff to address any issues that may occur.

The Mentors, will be sought from the Harlow Community, the Mentors currently committed are from Education, Local Authorities and charitable associations, it is hoped to find a wide range of professions from different walks of life to ensure that there will be the possibility of a good match.

Parents/Guardians or relevant people in the Mentees life will also be invited to the speed Mentor event to enable them to ask any questions they may have and to meet the Mentors.

The Speed Mentoring event will start with a motivational talk from a member of the Harlow Community, preferably a younger male that will  appeal to the lived experience of the young Mentees.
