A volunteer IT Support Officer is needed to support the Office Manager and wider team by providing practical IT support and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the organisation’s technology systems and equipment.
The role will involve supporting staff and volunteer onboarding and offboarding processes, carrying out routine system and equipment checks, maintaining accurate IT records, and providing basic troubleshooting assistance to help staff and volunteers work effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support onboarding and offboarding of staff and volunteers, including setting up and removing user accounts across IT systems.
- Provide basic onsite IT troubleshooting and support for staff and volunteers.
- Carry out monthly checks of Google Workspace accounts, ensuring leavers are suspended and deleted in line with procedures.
- Support Intune management system checks, including ensuring software updates have been completed across devices.
- Carry out monthly functional checks of spare laptops and equipment.
- Maintain and update the IT equipment and computer asset register.
- Support the Office Manager with any additional IT-related tasks as required.
Skills
- Enthusiasm and interest in IT systems and support.
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Basic understanding of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft systems.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
- Ability to work independently and manage routine tasks.
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to IT issues.
- Confident communicator, able to support non-technical users.
Full training will be provided on all systems and processes.

Availability Details
This is a flexible volunteer role, ideally covering around 2 x half days per week (or equivalent), with some tasks completed monthly or ad hoc. The role can be based in the office at Barnards Yard, Saffron Walden, with some remote working available once training is completed.
