The Stroke Club – Mid Essex require volunteer drivers for their back-lift, transit-sized minibus (a 6/7 seater).
This role involves picking up the minibus from Heybridge on a Saturday morning and collecting and returning stroke disabled members between their homes and the Stroke Centre in Chelmsford.
Pick up begins at 9 am on Saturday morning and involves collecting passengers around the area (Witham, Hatfield Peverel, Chelmsford). Drop off should be completed by 10:30 am.
The round is completed in reverse from 1:30 pm to approximately 3 pm.
Drivers are welcome to free refreshments and lunch if desired and may remain at the venue in the interim or leave and return in good time for drop-off.
You will be one of a rota of drivers. The Stroke Club does not operate on Bank Holiday weekends.
Drivers will need to be between 25 and 75 years old.
A DBS check is required. The check is free of charge and will be carried out by the organisation.
Shadow training will be given including instruction on fixing wheelchairs safely.
Volunteer expenses are paid by prior arrangement.
