Volunteer Counsellor

Action for Family Carers makes a positive difference to the lives of all Carers by providing valued, high quality support services in times of need.

The volunteer will be required to provide counselling sessions to unpaid Carers.

Action for Family Carers will provide and arrange clients with an initial contact session to be held followed by 6 further sessions. Sessions can be held online or face to face or a mixture of both.

Skills

• Working towards a minimum Level 4 counselling qualification • Have been signed off for Fitness to Practice or be qualified at Level 4 – evidence required • DBS checked prior to volunteering • Be a member of a recognised counselling body BACP/NCPS • Be in regular supervision as per professional body • Have a minimum of 30 placement hours • Hold professional indemnity insurance for counselling • Aware of issues facing unpaid carers
