Virtual Pregnancy Pal Volunteer

Our virtual volunteers offer regular phone or video call support to parents during pregnancy and the early months post birth support is adapted to suit the individual needs of each parent and can vary from once a week, two-weekly or monthly.

The support includes:

- Being there to simply listen, to build trust and not judge

- Promoting health and wellbeing (e.g. encouraging relaxation, exercise and good healthy food)

- Assisting parents-to-be to prepare for the changes that having a baby brings

- Assisting expectant parents to prepare for labour and birth

- Building parents’ confidence and self-esteem

- Introducing parents to local groups, services and other support they might find useful

- Encouraging parents to take their time and enjoy getting to know their new baby

- Enabling parents to connect with other parents in their community for mutual support
