Treasurer

Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (M&DCVS) is a voluntary sector infrastructure organisation that provides support to local charities and community groups.

This support includes provision of information to groups on funding, support with policy writing, affordable training, promotion and legal updates as well as running a number of projects.

A volunteer is needed to join our friendly Trustee Board as Treasurer. The role involves overseeing payments made by the charity, managing the budget, and supporting the production of our yearly financial report.

The main M&DCVS Board meets bi-monthly with sub-committees set up when needed to address specific projects or dedicated pieces of work, such as the Finance and Personnel sub-committees.

M&DCVS is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee with an annual turnover of approximately £100,000. It currently employs seven staff (two full-time and five part-time).

Skills

Knowledge of finance requirements in a similar size organisation is of benefit, this could include:

- knowledge of business planning

- budgeting and forecasting

- collating and explaining reports

- producing annual reports

- complying with Company and Charity Law

MDCVS currently uses Quickbooks software to manage its accounts and reporting. Experience with this software would be an asset but not essential as training can be provided.
