Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, are proud to have received the Queen’s Award for Volunteering and now offers you the chance to join their award winning team. They continue to develop the site into one of the premier visitor attractions in Essex and their volunteers are playing a vital part in making this happen.
The aerodrome needs knowledgeable, enthusiastic and articulate people to engage with the public and explain the site and its objects. You would begin by building up your knowledge of the story of the site and its collections while working in the galleries. You can then take up training to give guided tours to visitors. You will sometimes be needed to help deliver a structured and expanding education programme, and develop learning resources.
Stow Maries holds regular recruitment sessions which include backstage tours of the site.
Training is provided for all roles and most volunteering hours are flexible.
Hours for this role are flexible and you may be needed on days when the site is closed to the general public.
The site is wheelchair friendly.
