We are excited to announce that we are on the look out for new recruits for our volunteer team in Southend. Our volunteering roles are varied and flexible. You can volunteer once a week for two hours, once every fortnight or once a month, whatever works for you .
Would you like to Volunteer for Family Action’s Southend FOOD Clubs. Family Action is a registered charity that has been running for over 150 years. We provide services and financial support for vulnerable families in the UK. Our services include supporting children and families, adoption, and special guardianship, providing food and hardship support, SEND support, promoting health and well-being, mentoring for young people, supporting schools and education, and developing skills and employability.
Currently in Southend we have a community project called Southend FOOD Clubs where we run three Food clubs from three children centres in Southend. Family Action's FOOD Clubs are an innovative way of addressing food insecurity that enable low-income families to access good quality food at an exceptionally low cost. We provide local families with an affordable way to access food whilst also saving food from landfill. Last Friday 38 families came to collect their food crates, and their children had a chance to get fruit, a snack and draw. It was lovely to see how it is helping so many people. We also provide wraparound services for our families and provide them with information, advice, and guidance to improve their lives.
You might want to volunteer to:
- give back to the community and the project
- upskill,
- gain work experience,
- gain confidence or just to be part of team.
Southend FOOD Clubs is a project ran by Family Action, and we have been successfully supporting families for 150years with services all over the UK. Family Action provide an excellent training package for our volunteers and ongoing support to help you reach your own personal goals.
