Side by Side Telephone Volunteers

What's involved?

Side by Side volunteers support people living with dementia in the local community. Side By Side Telephone volunteers make friendly, tailored conversations with people living with dementia. You will be connected with people based on their interests and preferences. Your involvement will support people with dementia to feel less isolated and focus in an individual's strengths to remain connected, feel valued and more confident. The base for this role is flexible and will be agreed with your role manager. You could volunteer from home or in your local Alzheimer's Society office. The level of commitment for this role can be agreed based on your availability and will be discussed at your first meeting with the Side by Side Coordinator. This could be during afternoons, evenings or weekends. You will make these calls regularly and reliably as agreed with the person with dementia. We would ask that you could commit to a period of at least six months. You will liaise with the Side by Side Coordinator on a regular basis, including changes or concerns regarding the service user, as well as discussing your personal learning and development needs
