The Ormiston Families team is based in a bright and welcoming visitors’ Centre just outside the perimeter walls of the prison. We provide support, information and a personal welcome for first-time visitors, as well as support with their children.
Visiting someone in prison can be very difficult; we need volunteers to welcome people in, assist them with paperwork, and help them access information and advice. Volunteers are also there for a friendly chat, generally helping visitors to feel at ease and to understand the procedure before they enter the prison. You would also be making teas and coffees for visitors, using the till and providing change for lockers etc.
