Peer Support Volunteers

As a peer support volunteer you will be mentoring local volunteers and providing them with guidance following Independent Age policies and procedures, you will carry out regular support calls and meetings with volunteers. Doing check ups and touch point calls to the older people we support and keeping in touch with your Independent Age contact.. To be available for regular support sessions and report any concerns to your Independent Age YOU will be expected to attend at least one volunteer networking event a year.

You will be expected to have access to a computer for on line reporting

The opportunity is at the Independent Age office or home based

Skills

To become a Peer Support Volunteer you will need to etiher have some previious experience in a similar role and/or have volunteered for at least 6 monthys.

Strong relationship building and networking skills

Able to motivate a team of volunteers

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Willingness to learn and continuously develop

Have a keen interest in older people and the issuers of later life

Be reliable, consistent and non-judgemental

Good computer skills in Office and Outlook programmes, ability to work independently and know when to seek advice or report concerns.
