Organisational and Administration Support

Are you passionate about books, local history, or libraries? The Gibson Library Society is looking for dedicated volunteers to support the smooth running of our activities and help us preserve and promote our unique library collection in Saffron Walden.

We are currently seeking volunteers for a variety of roles, including:

  • Supervising volunteers
  • Booking monthly guest speakers for meetings (speakers chosen by the Library Committee)
  • Helping to organise annual outings to libraries, conservation studios, bookbinders, and other places of interest (destinations chosen by the committee)
  • Handling administrative tasks, such as phone calls, writing letters/emails, and confirming arrangements

Skills

Administration, computer skills.

Volunteers with a good knowledge of Saffron Walden and the wider Uttlesford area

  • Accessibility
    Access to the 1st floor Saffron Walden Town Library Reading Room is accessible (lift, level access). There are 3 steps with handrail up to the adjacent book store. There is a flight of stairs down to a further book store in the cellar. Parking (pay-and-display, some free - including disabled parking close to the library building) is available in the centre of Saffron Walden.
