In this role you will:
- Support school children aged 5-11 to learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths)
- Learn how to deliver school sessions by shadowing and working with an experienced buddy
- Have opportunities to help us develop new learning sessions and/or activities for families during the school holidays

- Receive a full induction and training relevant to the role, including communicating with children, health and safety and safeguarding
- Gain skills and experience working with children
- Meet new people with similar interests
- Participate in monthly team meetings
- Access to other volunteering projects and opportunities at the Museum
What is the time commitment?
We are looking for volunteers who are available on Wednedsays, Thursdays or Fridays during term time, from 9.30am – 2.30pm.
Ideally you will be available either once a week or once a fortnight.
You will have a named contact from the Museum team to support you, this is James Gulleford, the Assistant Museum Manager who leads on the learning programmes.

Skills
We are looking for volunteers who are:
- Friendly and approachable
- Work well with children and young people and able to provide two references
- Interested in working with a range of age groups, backgrounds and demographics
- Willing to learn about the STEM subject areas covered by the school sessions
