Following an initial training course volunteers will be matched to a family with young children who are experiencing stress or difficult circumstances.
The volunteer will visit once a week at a mutually convenient time to offer friendship, encouragement and practical help.
Volunteers can play with children and support mum with all aspects of parenting, helping the family to get out of the house and access mother and toddler groups. With support from Home-Start staff, volunteers can help sign-post parents and support them at appointments to help their lives move on in a positive direction.
Parenting experience and a willingness to help others. This is more of a long-term volunteering opportunity we are ideally asking for a 2 year commitment so it wouldn't really suit someone who is currently job hunting. Realistically need to be able to drive.
