Hearing Aid Support Service Technical Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to join our small friendly team to help those with hearing loss more clearly, once trained you will be able to clean and retube a hearing aid, tubes need replacing every 4 - 6 months and if the aid is not working this leaves a person feeling very isolated , lonely and vulnerable.

The role of the Hearing Aid Support Service Technical Volunteers is to provide support and guidance to the new hearing aid wearer by offering practical help and advice about their NHS hearing aids

Volunteers may also be asked to make home visits as and when required, these will be solo and only when fully trained and confident to do so.


Be a good listener, be patient and personable

After training you will have an understanding of hearing loss and know how to communicate clearly with those living with hearing loss, know how a hearing aid works. Be able to clean and retube and change hearing aid batteries. Able to give accurate advice and know about different referral paths

Availability Details

Minimum of 2 hours a month, to help as hearing aid support sessions which are held monthly. Volunteers can opt to support as many sessions as they like
