Giving social and emotional support to residents

We are looking for several volunteers who would like to come into the Home and work with our Activities Organiser to spend some time with our residents, talking to them about the local area, reading the newspapers for those who have sight impairment, taking residents to town, and offering support with any other activities/skills such as gardening, art, craft or even playing the piano.

If you have a particular interest or skill why not introduce it to the residents?

Residents over 65 , frail elderly, clients with Dementia and Nursing clients - 3 separate units so Volunteers can choose which Unit they feel comfortable to come and visit.

We would appreciate any time that Volunteers can give the Home on a regular basis, with the same group of volunteers visiting the Home.

Skills

Empathy towards the lifestyle of our residents and the daily challenges they face.

Patience, kindness, and spare time. - It would be beneficial to have continuity of volunteers so residents become familiar with regular visitors.
