Eye Clinic Support - Braintree

The charity has only a very small team employed to support thousands of people with sight loss and has a large area of Essex to cover. We would be unable to achieve our work without the support of our Eye Clinic Volunteers. This role will help us to continue supporting local people, by raising awareness of Support 4 Sight in your local eye clinic and ensuring that those newly diagnosed or with long term sight loss are aware of the help and support that is available at the very beginning.

The eye clinic volunteer role is a very rewarding and satisfying opportunity; you will have the chance to meet people of differing ages from all backgrounds offering support, information. Eye Clinic volunteers will receive one-to-one support from the volunteer coordinator, be buddied with an experienced volunteer until you feel confident in the role. There will be regular updates on the charity's latest activities as well as help with preparing tasks.


• To represent Support 4 Sight and its services to visitors of the eye clinic

• When in the eye clinic represent the Charity by wearing your identification badge at all times

• Make the hospital's eye clinic team and Consultants aware you are there on behalf of Support 4 Sight and

available to talk to patients and carers if required

• Ensure equipment case and table is brought out and available for demonstrations and returned at the end of


• Ensure all information on display boards is up to date

• Check that there are adequate numbers of information leaflets and Support 4 Sight outcomes monitoring forms,

notify the team captain to have more sent out when required

• Signposting to relevant local and national organisations

• Complete outcomes monitoring forms and drop/send in, or pass to Team Captain monthly

• Be mindful of data protection and confidentiality at all times
