We need volunteers to help others learn and develop their digital skills.
We are looking for people with a good all-round knowledge of digital technologies (Smart Phones/Tablets/Chromebooks/ Laptops/Smart Speakers etc.) and the enthusiasm to help others
gain the skills they need.
We are looking for volunteers who can do some of these things:
- Browse websites and use a search engine
- Send emails and complete online forms
- Shop online, including online banking
- Use WhatsApp, Zoom, Teams and other video mediums
- Help with applying for jobs
- Explain about Internet Security and Staying safe online
- Help with chrome books, tablets, smart phones, laptops and smart speakers
- Use Microsoft Office, e.g. Word, Excel
Skills
The volunteers will require the following attributes:
- A willingness to help others
- Friendliness and approachability
- Good listening skills
- Patience and the ability to remain calm and confident in explaining instructions to people learning something new, or having difficulty getting to grips with something straight away
- Confidence to work with people with varying educational, mental health and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to encourage and motivate learners with a range of abilities
