The role of our Food Bank volunteers is to be responsible for handling referrals on a rota basis. Flexibility is important to us all, so how you manage the week can fit around your schedules and we help each other out if there is a week or day that is not good for us. When it is your turn, you may receive calls on the Food Bank mobile phone and take referral details, then to make up a delivery you go to our store and put boxed food into bags, buy a small amount of fresh food using the Food Bank kitty and deliver the bags to Spangles in Stansted where the clients collect. We have occasional meetings with each other and keep in touch by email if necessary should a query arise.
Owing to Covid-19 at present we are not able to drop our deliveries off at Spangles until October.
So we are looking for volunteers who can make deliveries
Ideally you would need to live in Stansted or nearby and have access to a car on the week that you are on duty. Motivation to help people in the community. Some simple record keeping of referrals and money spent needed.

Start Date: 17/12/2019
End Date: 17/12/2020
Time commitment varies depending on how many calls are received. You will need to be able to receive calls between 9am up until 5pm when on duty although it is fine to leave the phone on answer mode and check after a period time if you can't take calls for a while. It is unusual to get called more than 3 times a week. You can schedule your deliveries around when you are able to make them and possibly take the next day if called in the afternoon.
