Conservation Work Party Volunteers

Do you want to make a difference for wildlife in Essex?

Work Party volunteers are required to conduct practical management tasks at Maldon Wick and Meadows nature reserve. This will include practical conservation tasks mostly consisting of coppicing (cutting down small trees) and scrub clearance.

Full training will be provided on site.

The site is primarily managed for butterflies and 28 different species have been recorded on site since the site was taken over by the Essex Wildlife Trust.

Maldon Wick and Meadows Nature Reserve is situated on Limebrook Way (B1018) near the (Morrisons) roundabout where it joins the A414 (Chelmsford-Maldon) in Maldon, Essex

Skills

Volunteers need:

- a willingness to be outside for an extended period of time

- to closely listen to a supervisor

- an ability to work safely with other volunteers

A good level of fitness is required to be able to work on uneven ground and use handtools safely.
