Shaw Trust is a national charity working to create brighter futures for the people and communities we serve. Our services help our clients improve their everyday living, become more independent and confident, meet new people, get better skills and find a job.
In-line with the recognised 5 steps to wellbeing, taking up a new hobby or activity allows people to develop not only a new skill, but also to gain a routine, meet new people and improve their confidence.
Our Community Engagement Volunteers will help participants access information and services, and take up activities to enable them to develop new skills, meet new people and improve their confidence. Volunteers could help
participants find out more information about different clubs and activities; accompany them to a support group
meeting; take them to a skills session at the local college or community provider. This may include planning how they get to groups and, in some cases, going with them for the first few times for moral support.
