Charity Trustee

We are a small, volunteer-led charity dedicated to enriching the quality of life for local residents by providing accessible, inclusive facilities to meet the evolving needs of the community

This will be achieved by establishing a community centre with indoor and outdoor spaces where a wide variety of activities and community welfare services will be delivered, alongside a new early years and childcare setting.

We are expanding our board of trustees to ensure the voices of our community are at the very heart of our decision-making. As a trustee, you’ll work with our other board members to ensure we are running safely, spending our funds correctly, and delivering a solution that genuinely helps our beneficiaries by providing accessible, inclusive facilities.

Responsibilities include: 

● Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated purpose by contributing to its strategy

● Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document and charity law

● Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects for the benefit of the public

● Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation

● Contribute to the effective and efficient administration and financial stability of the organisation

● Protecting and managing the charity’s property and ensuring the proper investment of its funds

● Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of any staff that may be employed by the organisation from time-to-time

Skills

You don't need a business degree or boardroom experience! We value life experience and local knowledge just as much as formal qualifications. We are looking for people who:

● Live or work in the local area or have a connection with it

● Have an interest in helping the local community

● Are committed to the aims of the Trust and to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership

● Can bring relevant skills and experience to the Trust’s board

● Think creatively and are willing to share their ideas and ask questions 

● Can commit to attending our monthly meetings

We provide a full induction and pair new trustees with an existing board member (a "buddy") to help you settle in.
