Saffron Walden Museum is one of the oldest purpose-built museums in the country.
Volunteers are needed to assist the museum staff with keeping the museum in good condition for their visitors to enjoy, so it’s a tidy, organised and welcoming environment.
Tasks include:
- Assisting with painting walls and exhibition display equipment.
- Assisting with basic repairs to fixtures and fittings, furniture and equipment around the museum.
- Assist with practical and technical tasks around the museum.
Carry out tasks as directed by Museum staff and to refer to Museum staff in situations of uncertainty e.g. you would be expected to flag up any potential health & safety issues.
Skills
- Good customer care – friendly and outgoing, clear communication.
- Enjoy working in a team environment.
- Practical DIY skills e.g. using tools, carrying out basic repairs and basic painting & decorating.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work to set guidelines.
- Happy to work independently.
- Be security and health & safety conscious.
- Good physical health as aspects of the role involve lifting materials and equipment, and using ladders.
Tasks may be messy so please dress appropriately.
