Carer Champions for Maldon, Chelmsford and occasionally in the community

To be part of a volunteer team led by the Carer Co-ordinator, offering signposting and support to carers to enable them to maintain their carer role. Key tasks are providing listening opportunities, supporting carers on organised activities, and supporting the drop-in service. The role could also include group facilitating, candlelit dinner waiting/service, scribing/recording for storytelling group.

After a time tasks can be extended if the Champion wishes, for example;

One-to-one carer support

Facilitating group sessions

Involvement with ongoing training programmes

Completing carer assessments.

Skills

Must have experience of being of being a carer or worked with carers before. Experience of benefits an advantage, the post will grow and develop with the team development.
