Allotment gardens provide access to healthy food, increase access to nutrition and physical activity opportunities, and are a focal point for community involvement. We use our allotment garden to improve local access to and consumption of fruits and vegetables and as an integral part of overall efforts of local wellness. Our community garden provides opportunities for collaboration with a variety of schools, community organisations and communal garden areas, thereby increasing the sustainability of the intervention of food poverty and gardening education and wellbeing green spaces.
Gardeners should be committed to supporting all community members and creating an inclusive and welcoming environment at the garden. They help the allotment garden, a variety of schools, community organisations and communal garden areas to be a beautiful and productive community assets.
