Are you a keen driver and enjoy meeting new people? We are looking for someone to support our Bird Seed team with the packaging and delivery of our own brand bird seed to our 11 visitor centres around Essex.
As part of the Bird Seed Team you will start your day based at Abbotts Hall Farm, Great Wigborough, near Colchester before heading out across the county. The team mix, pack and deliver Essex Wildlife Trust’s branded bird seed to the Trust’s 11 Visitor Centres, with the profit from this operation going directly to the Trust.
This work is quite physical involving using machinery to mix bird seed, sealing it into labelled bags of different sizes and lifting and carrying the bags of bird seed around the farm, in and out of a van, and into the Centres themselves. A small amount of paperwork is also involved although the majority of this is carried out by the operative managing the team.
In order to carry out deliveries you would need to hold a full valid driving licence and be aged over 25 (due to insurance restrictions).
The deliveries are currently undertaken on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays along fixed routes of between 70 and 110 miles.Ideally you would be able to commit to helping for one day a week (day dependent on work schedule) but some flexibility is always welcome.
All training will be provided but the volunteer should be great with being outdoors in all weathers and working independently.
Ideally you will volunteer weekly.
