Befrienders Required

Basis supports adults with sight loss in South Essex, helping them to live fulfilling and independent lives.

We have been very lucky to obtain significant funding from the Big Lottery. This will enable Basis to befriend adults with sight loss. We are looking for volunteer befrienders to visit our members within their own home (Home Befriending) We are also looking for befrienders who would be able to go out of the home (Active Befriending) With both types of befriending each member will be assigned a befriender, who will provide friendly conversation and companionship on a regular basis. Our Befriending Service is committed to preventing people in South Essex becoming lonely and isolated, helping them to remain happy and independent by providing friendship and someone to talk to. Befriending provides a Basis member with a link to the outside world and often acts as a gateway to other services and valuable support.

Trustworthy, Reliable, Friendly, with an hour to spare each week.
