Could you spare a couple of hours per week to brighten someone's day?

Would you like to make a difference to someone in your community by giving just a few hours a week of your time. Join our friendly team of valued volunteers who help bring a smile and social interaction to a person who will look forward to your visits. Volunteer Befrienders are paired with people in the community who are socially isolated and lonely, and are looking for companionship and conversation.

Befrienders should provide informal, social support to help reduce isolation and to provide a relationship where none may currently exist. Befrienders will be matched with a befriendee taking into account age and interests.

CAVS are urgently looking for kind, caring, individuals to become Befrienders, particularly in the areas of Rochford, Hockley and Great Wakering.

Vicky Pilton, the Befriending Co-ordinator for CAVS says "People can become lonely and isolated for a variety of reasons but we have found our service can be of great benefit by providing companionship to those that could otherwise go days without seeing anyone. We currently have a number of people waiting for a visit in the Rochford district including the rural areas of Great Wakering and Foulness Island".

To hear from one of our befrienders and their befriendee please take a look at our Volunteering and Me..... video by highlighting and right clicking go to on the following link:-
