Befriender/ Activities assistant

Here at Bradbury House we are looking to recruit some Activities/Befriending volunteers to help to enrich our resident's lives. We currently have an Activities Co-ordinator who schedules daily activities, however we have 19 residents here, all of whom could benefit with more interaction and more fun! We have a mix of in-house activities such as flower-arranging, arts and crafts, and quizzes etc. But we also like to keep our community links, going on day trips both locally and further afield on our minibus. The volunteers role would be to assist our co-ordinator in carrying out activities, assisting our residents to get the most out of their day. On trips this could also include helping our residents to get out and about by pushing their wheelchair for them. Our residents are from all walks of life, with various different interests, our aim is to tap into everyone's likes here and give their days as much meaning and pleasure as possible. We would love to hear from anyone who feels that they could help.

Skills

We are looking for individuals with a caring and patient manner to support the activities co-ordinator in delivering activity sessions to our elderly residents. It would be helpful if the individuals were outgoing and creative. Those with a particular interest or skill that they could share with our residents would be especially helpful, however not compulsory! We just need happy, caring people who can dedicate regular time to us and our residents to help enrich their lives.
