Family advocacy involves providing an independent perspective and encouragement to help family members to make informed decisions and have a voice in administrative decisions, about the welfare and protection needs of their children. This will involve moral support and may include speaking, or constructively challenging, on their behalf if they wish.
Surgeries operate within larger organisation's premises, in various areas.
Please note: Due to current safeguarding measures, all home visits are suspended, and all services are being delivered by telephone or zoom. Training sessions are also currently delivered by zoom.
Skills
A kind heart and common sense are essential in this role. Your own transport is an advantage, as some weekday availability is necessary.
An enhanced DBS and references will be required.

Availability Details
Training will normally take place on Tuesday mornings, but volunteers will need to be available at other times also to go to meetings with clients, or to meet with them at one of our locality surgeries, or where appropriate at their home. Some mid-week availability will always be necessary. Each volunteer’s time commitment will vary according to his/her own availability.
