Advice Volunteers

Volunteers deal with the daily running of the information and advice line answering client's queries and problems surrounding disability. They all have personal experience of disability with either being disabled themselves or have close contact with someone who has, giving them a greater understanding of problems disabled people encounter. All volunteers are fully trained allowing them to have the knowledge and confidence to tackle enquires and problems accordingly. Their current responsibilities include administration duties surrounding the advice line including writing up forms and entering information onto the computer data base.

Skills

All volunteers must have good reading and writing skills, some knowledge of operating a computer and be prepared to attend both internal and external training courses on welfare benefits, customer service, telephone skills, etc.
