Essex Police are currently looking for "active citizen" volunteers to assist local neighbourhood policing officers in Essex. We are looking for citizens who will deploy with police officers and police community support officers on foot in the community on crime reduction initiatives. The aim is to help reassure residents, provide crime prevention advice, engagement work opportunities, and importantly - be a high visible deterrent.
We would like volunteers who are committed to working with us, volunteers joining the initiative will undergo vetting and be provided with a high visibility jacket and identification. This initiative had contributed very positively to help reduce crime in areas where the scheme has already been tried.
Although there is no financial reward, this is a fantastic opportunity to help support our communities, providing an opportunity for younger volunteers to gain experience, whilst older volunteers will be able to utilise and share their life experiences, helping the police to make our community even safer.
