Telephone Volunteering

Are you a good talker and an equally good listener?

Telephone volunteering roles are available for those who would like to volunteer from home but also for those who would prefer an office based role.

If you’d prefer a home based role you could, for example, be offering regular telephone support to:

  • socially isolated vulnerable or elderly people

  • those who are recovering from stroke

  • families that need a little extra support

  • the sight impaired

  • helping the public access information

Office based roles are available with Essex Police (Chelmsford) and Support 4 Sight (Saffron Walden and Chelmsford)

Whatever you choose you will need to have good communication and listening skills as well as empathy and patience and you must also understand the need for confidentiality.

In most cases training will be provided.
