Volunteers in museums across the East of England are set to be recognised for the fantastic work they do in the second annual Share Volunteer Awards.
Organised by SHARE Museums East, the SHARE Volunteer Awards are now open for nominations.
Volunteers play a major role in caring for and interpreting our heritage and culture in the Eastern region, ensuring that it is accessible to all. The Awards recognise the immense input volunteers make to the region’s museums, both large and small.
Anyone involved with museums is encouraged to nominate a volunteer, team of volunteers or a volunteer manager to receive an award. People who have volunteered during 2015 can be nominated and there are a range of categories including: Outstanding Young Volunteer, Community Award and Bringing Innovation.
Winner of the Volunteer Management Award, Toni Mair, from Southend Museums said:
“It completely boosted my confidence, not just in my work but in myself too! My colleagues and our wonderful volunteers were so proud, it’s made a big difference to my work and to my self-esteem, Thank you SHARE!”
Deadline to nominate is Friday 15 April and the Awards will be presented at a ceremony on 9 June 2016 at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
