Carers Week

16 June 2017

Carers Week takes place from the 12-18th June 2017 and is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities across the UK.

Carers play a vital role but research shows that 3 in 4 Carers don’t feel that this role is understood or valued by communities. Organisations exist to help people who are undertaking a caring role to make sure they have the support and information they need to be able to provide the level of care their loved ones deserve. These organisations are supported by volunteers in a range of roles.

Take for example Action for Family Carers a charity based in Maldon that works across Essex to provide support to carers of all ages. There volunteering roles include Day Centre support assistants in a Harlow and Maldon and a befriending  service for Young Carers.
