Chelmsford Cathedral is once again set to dazzle visitors with a breathtaking installation—this time, it’s Mars: War & Peace by renowned artist Luke Jerram. Following the phenomenal success of the Gaia exhibit in 2022, this new celestial spectacle promises to be a highlight of autumn 2025. And here’s the exciting part: you can be part of it.
This amazing installation will be running over a three-week period and are looking for volunteers to support the event, with morning, afternoon and evening sessions available.
From Tuesday 21 October to Wednesday 12 November 2025, the Cathedral will host this immersive experience, complete with performances, concerts, and half-term children’s activities.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of this event. You’ll be:
- Welcoming visitors and sharing insights about the Mars installation
- Assisting with setup and running of performances and activities
- Supporting artists and musicians during their showcases
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or just curious to get involved, this is a chance to contribute to something truly special in the heart of Chelmsford.
Local artists and musicians are invited to perform during the event. If you’ve got talent to share, Chelmsford Cathedral wants to hear from you.
No prior experience is required, but exhibition hosts should be:
- Friendly and welcoming
- Good communicators
- Team players who can follow guidance and work collaboratively
Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are available every day of the week. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one 3–4 hour shift per week—but you’re welcome to do more and enjoy the performances while you’re at it.
Whether you’re passionate about the arts, looking to meet new people, or simply want to be part of something extraordinary, this is your moment. To register your interest or learn more, visit the Volunteer Essex opportunity page.
